OVERVIEW OF HIV PROGRAMME IN INDIA

In this post a brief information about NACO which is governing this programme for controlling HIV/AIDS in India, and gives a brief information about its structure, where its departments are working in Government sector and private sector to control HIV/AIDS.

NATIONAL AIDS CONTROL ORGANISATION

When the First HIV case identified in 1986
The National Health Committee was made by MHFW OF INDIA
NATIONAL AIDS CONTROL ORGANISATION (NACO) WAS FORMED IN 1992 and than NATIONAL AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME(NACP) COME INTO BEING.

under NACO to run the programme in different states of India, State wise societies(SACS) formed. like state wise named, eg, in Rajasthan,(Rajasthan State Aids Control Society).RSACS, Like wise with Different names in different States, under state government, in centre as a Head NACO. for controlling SACS at State Level. and in State at District level in Government Hospitals centres are opened where HIV Screening & Counselling of individuals are done, i.e. (ICTC) INTEGRATED COUNSELLING AND TESTING CENTRE,STI CLINIC ,ART CENTERS,PPTCT,BLOOD BANK,TI (TARGET INTERVENTION) NGOs. see the chart of centres:-
